…sat in the train, bluish green seats, 16 windows, its dark outside so all I see are the reflections, there’s a girl; we are holding eyes subtlety, she loses interest when I’m on phone, here’s where you come in.. That should be you, in ur green sundress, with the boat shoes and the hair tied up.. U’d hold my eye but u’d be dismissive, I know that look- I’d tell myself, and my eye’s crayon would etch out every part of u.. U’d still have that look, if only u knew the damage my thoughts are doing to u, or maybe u know exactly… I’d watch u looking at me, u wudnt know but I’d see ur reflection in the mirror, those intense heat seeking eyes and that mind- sinister, reminds me of The Woman, a reference to Sherlock Holmes femme fatale… Have I told you about shoes? Your tiny feet loving shoes? Huh! Of trains…. Its moving.

I believe,
In a country without bounds
A love without social boundaries
I believe in you
I believe in a People
That cannot be oppressed
A population that won’t rest
Until it finds its place at the crest
I believe in Kenya.
I have come to believe
In our waters, our hills, our valleys
And I know that if our dreams
Are anywhere near as fertile as our soils
Then the world must tremble at the thought
of what happens when we finally wake up..
I believe in us,
I don’t believe that this land was meant to be a desert
I believe in the cooling waters of our great lakes
I believe in the efficiency of our earth
And that we have enough to feed ourselves
And our neighbours Kenya,
For we are Kings amongst our neighbours!
The Anchor upon which this region revolves
I believe in You.
Dear Leaders,
I have come to believe in your ability to mobilize
Now I want to believe in your ability to deliver
Seeing is believing
Kenya, I believe in your eyes and that you can see
That you are long-sighted enough
To see past your ethnic background and bring into the foreground
The intellectual, the factual, the developmental
I trust you to focus on what makes us bigger than we already are
I believe in your vision…
Dear Leaders,
I have come to believe in your ability to energize
Now I want to believe in your willingness to stabilize
So when it seems to be getting dark
And the world is watching our every step
Waiting for us to turn on each other like the animals we have been in the past,
I look to you
And I know I am safe
I believe in your humanity.
People say
I am a dreamer
That we are so different
Our roots will never be from the same tree
Our branches reach out to different skies
The tribal rivers have watered this tree
It is firm
It is established
And it shall not be moved
And I say?
As sure as the southern sun sets in the west
I believe in the sanctity of this marriage,
That we belong to each other within this territory
I know that you understand
That this is a healed land
And I believe that you are just as sick and tired as I am
Of the sickness of irresponsibility and injustice
that have ravaged us in the past
I want to believe
We are on the same page of history.
I cannot wait to get it right
We cannot wait to get this right
For this is the JUBILEE!
And that is not a political statement,
It is an acknowledgement that the time has finally come
For us to be CORDED together by more than just the tongue that we speak!
The time is finally here when we glean from our best
And give our very best
The time has finally come for justice to be our Defense
For peace to be our Ministry
And for unity to be our Mission
I believe,
I believe in a country without bounds
A love without social boundaries
I believe in you
I believe in Kenya.
God bless Kenya.
